The Guam Advisory Committee (“Committee”) to the United States Commission on Civil Rights (“Commission”) will hold an in-person meeting on Guam on Friday, June 2, 2023 (ChST). The purpose of this meeting is to collect input from the public on potential project ideas and to discuss potential civil rights topics for the Committee’s investigation.
Committee Chair Vanessa Williams states, “The Committee is highly interested in hearing directly from our community members. We are inviting the public to share what they see as the most relevant civil rights issues (specifically, discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, age, disability, national origin, or in the administration of justice) affecting our island. This Committee is another resource for the community to connect and further raise awareness of issues around inequality and discrimination – not only those existing within Guam but as Guam relates to the United States.”
