The New Mexico Advisory Committee to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights is hosting a series of online public panels to hear testimony regarding immigrant detention centers in the state. The Committee plans to hold several panels through the spring of 2025 to hear from a balanced slate of perspectives and stakeholders.

Panel I is designed to provide the Committee with insights into the current challenges and conditions within detention centers. A group of panelists with direct frontline experience has been invited to share their perspectives.
Individuals requiring additional accommodations and/or language translation assistance should contact Angelica Trevino at atrevino@usccr.gov at least 7 business days prior to the meeting to make the request.
Members of the public are encouraged to share their experiences and perspectives on immigrant detention centers in the state. The public will be invited to speak during an open comment period near the end of the briefing starting at approximately 2:40pm MT.
If you cannot attend the virtual panel, the Committee will also accept written comments related to this study. Written comments can be submitted in any language. Please send written statements on this topic to Brooke Peery, at bpeery@usccr.gov.
