The Guam Advisory Committee to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights is hosting a series of online public briefings to gather testimony from various stakeholders on the overrepresentation of COFA Migrants within Guam’s criminal justice system. The Committee intends to provide the Commission with their findings and recommendations on this topic. The meeting details for the next panel are:

Members of the public will be invited to speak during an open comment period towards the last 10-15 minutes of each panel. Members of the public are encouraged to share their experiences and perspectives on the issue. The Committee will also accept written comments related to this study, which can be submitted to lschiller@usccr.gov.
Committee Chair Vanessa Williams said, “The Guam Advisory Committee is examining the representation of COFA (Compact of Free Association) Migrants within Guam’s criminal justice system. The Committee aims to identify factors that may contribute to the number of COFA Migrants within the system. Engagement with the COFA community is a key part of this investigation, as the Committee seeks to understand their experiences related to this issue. Testimonies from various stakeholders will be considered to develop findings and recommendations, with the goal of ensuring equitable treatment for COFA Migrants within Guam’s criminal justice system.”
