Chicago, IL – On Friday, April 2, 2021, the Minnesota Advisory Committee to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights will hold the first in a series of public briefings to discuss the ongoing crisis of police violence against people of color in Minnesota. The Committee will review the status of the implementation by Minnesota law enforcement of the recommendations of their 2018 report Civil Rights and Policing Practices in Minnesota which identified a need for comprehensive use-of-force training, training in de-escalation techniques, and training in mental health interventions.
