Voting Rights Enforcement & Reauthorization

This report analyzes and discusses the Department of Justice’s decisions since 1965 in implementing the temporary provisions of the Voting Rights Act, with particular emphasis on the current extension period. The Commission conducted this study to offer the President and Congress a factual record with which to consider the reauthorization of the expiring provisions of the Voting Rights Act.
