The focus of the South Dakota Advisory Committee’s inquiry was to learn about specific barriers to voting along with recommendations for addressing those barriers. From a civil rights perspective, the Committee sought to consider voting rights and voter access in South Dakota on the basis of race, color, national origin, or disability for South Dakota’s Tribal, rural, and New American immigrant communities.
